Biography

Greetings

My name is Kristy Andrews, and I am an English and Spanish teacher at HHS.

To begin, I grew up in Panama, Illinois, and attended Hillsboro schools from K-12.  After graduating high school in 2002, I attended Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville where I obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary English Education with a double major in Spanish.  In the near future I plan on starting a Master’s program at Greenville College to obtain certification as a Reading Specialist.  Furthermore, I sponsor the HHS Scholastic Bowl team and help out with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes organization.

On a more personal note, my husband Shawn is a social studies teacher at Lincolnwood Junior and Senior High School.  He is a mid-distance track coach at Greenville College.  We have one son, Noah, who was born in February.  He is our pride and joy!  During the summer he began eating baby food and started rolling over.  It will be fun to see what new milestones he achieves during the school year!  Also, we have a little, white Jack Russell Terrier with brown ears named Edmonds, a.k.a. Eddie.  (You’ve probably seen him in the window if you’ve walked or driven by our house!) We are huge St. Louis Cardinals fans, so we named him after Jim Edmonds in 2005.  Well, after Edmonds was traded, we realized that our naming strategy didn’t factor in future MLB trades.

I am looking forward to the beginning of the 2009-2010 school year!  I believe that each student will accomplish much this year, and I am eager to learn about the personalities and perspectives of each student!
